June Plot Post
Welcome to Knowhere! Our first plot will serve as the kick-off for the game, and will run from June 21-28. Please read through the entire post carefully for all the details, and then get to plotting in the comments below!
ARRIVAL PLOT: THE AWAKENING
Your characters will arrive in the Cortex and be ushered out quickly, except instead of a bustling station, they'll find the many hallways and rooms empty, an eerie silence over everything. No one is there to lead your character further than a minute's walk away - and since everyone arrives individually they're left to their own devices. Luckily for them, someone's provided instructions on how to get to their quarters.
A few hours later a broadcast will come onto the passport bracelets, before completely going offline. Knowhere is under attack by two groups of aliens. What will you do next, strangers?
This event is planned to last a week ICly, however if it seems like it could be cut short due to player actions, it will be.
The Attackers:
There are two groups of aliens, both with their own set of powers. Players are allowed to NPC the grunts within reason - please keep in mind that this plot is supposed to last for a week.
THE GROUP AT THE CORTEX
THE GROUP AT THE OBSERVATION DECK
THERE ARE THREE STAGES TO THIS EVENT:
1) FIGHT TO THE DESIGNATED AREAS
2) SIEGE MODE
3) BOSS BATTLE
1. FIGHT TO THE DESIGNATED AREAS
2. SIEGE MODE
3. BOSS BATTLE
4. SURPRISE BONUS SECTION
QUICK FACTS
1. The Network will be down for the entirety of this plot-- until the end of June 28.
2. Characters will have to choose whether to venture to the Observation Deck or back to the Continuum Cortex.
3. Characters will have to work together in order to defeat two distinct groups of invading aliens.
4. Characters will then have to decide icly what is to be done with these attackers.
Any questions can be directed to the mods below! A kickoff IC post will go up later today, and then a log post will go up for the remainder of the week. This log will have designated comments for each stage of the event, and new comments will be unlocked as the plot progresses.

The Attackers:
There are two groups of aliens, both with their own set of powers. Players are allowed to NPC the grunts within reason - please keep in mind that this plot is supposed to last for a week.
THE GROUP AT THE CORTEX
At roughly nine feet tall, this group of red skinned aliens resemble piles of rocks more than they do humans, although they're bipedal and have two arms and two legs. They, luckily, do not take hits as well as rocks do - a few good punches or shots will shatter their limbs into sharp shards that also make good weapons against the others. You know, if you want to be that person.
They've armed themselves with hammers made out of stone that will hurt a lot if they land a hit. One or two may have an axe and there's one particular individual with a mace.
Anyone within thirty feet of any one individual will find that any non-baseline abilities they have will be gone while they're within that distance. Abilities that are learned, however, stay. If your character has super strength and can fight with a sword then they'll find their strength gone but they can still hack and slash with the best of them.
Brute force will serve you well for defeating this group.
THE GROUP AT THE OBSERVATION DECK
Tall, thin, and willowy. All of those words describe this particular race - they look as if they're more smoke than actual flesh. With large violet eyes and skin that put one in mind of mirrors and no noticeable mouth, they're probably the more unnerving of the two groups.
They're not particularly quick, but they make up for that by having some sort of precognition powers that allows them to predict and defend against attacks. For while they may look fragile their mirrored flesh is nearly indestructible except for a round emerald spot on their chest the size of an average clenched fist. Hit there, and they will become ridged and fall to the ground, alive but not moving.
Their primary means of attacking aren't weapons and force like the previous group, but energy blasts with a range of fifteen feet. Get too close, and they'll predict where you're going to step and blast you. The blasts don't kill but they do leave a pretty nasty burn.
Working in groups will confuse them and allow someone to get a shot in in order to defeat this particular group.
THERE ARE THREE STAGES TO THIS EVENT:
1) FIGHT TO THE DESIGNATED AREAS
2) SIEGE MODE
3) BOSS BATTLE
1. FIGHT TO THE DESIGNATED AREAS
After the message, characters are free to make their way to the designated areas in the message to try and take back Knowhere. They will encounter resistance along the way - not from the alien groups described above but various other typical alien races of no particular note. The more people fight, the quicker the individuals that attack them will be pushed back into the two goal areas where they will meet up with the two major groups of aliens. Anyone keeping a sharp eye may note that once in the goal areas, the focus switches from the random aliens to the larger group in terms of leadership and attacking.
Once they've reached the designated areas, they'll find that they cannot take it back so easily. The Cortex has a forcefield around it and the Observation deck is well, huge. To say nothing of the aliens that are actually there.
Which brings us to the next part of the plot, which will take place on Sun/Mon.
2. SIEGE MODE
Time to hunker down and figure out how to beat the aliens currently attempting to take over the station. You're going to need to eat - send out some scouts to see what food there is? Maybe build up defenses, talk to one another, figure out these alien weaknesses.
The forcefield can be broken by hitting in in five places at the same time with just about anything - characters can tell it weakens with a hit and handwavey science fiction science.
As for the Observatory? Well, clearing that out should be easy once you realize where you need to hit.
Once they've broken through the defenses and start making headway, which should be roughly around Thursday/Friday, it's time for the--
3. BOSS BATTLE
Congratulations, you've managed to push most of the group back! But they're not going to surrender, not without a fight. Group effort is key in bringing down the leaders of each set of aliens, who are bigger and better than the rabble you'd been facing down for the past few days.
Even the bosses can be NPC'd by the player base, but once again we ask that you use discretion when doing so. Please use this plotting post to discuss strategies so that in the case of handwaving the actual defeat of the boss due to time constraints or other reasons, everyone has a general idea of what went down.
4. SURPRISE BONUS SECTION
See, once the boss is defeated/incapacitated and Knowhere is taken back, the only people on the around to decide to do with the remainder of the aliens is, well, the characters who were brought there and the upset and harried intern who will put the fate of the aliens to a vote. Therefore there's a comment thread below where you can place ONE VOTE PER CHARACTER on whether the aliens should remain on Knowhere in an approximation of a prison or sent back to wherever they came from.
There is no right/wrong answer, but the decision will have lasting consequences further down the line so keep that in mind!

QUESTIONS

1. When you say superhuman abilities are gone around the rock aliens, do you mean not just the Infinity Gem powers, but anything they might already have had? (Cyclops stops having eyebeams, the Flash is normal speed again, etc.?) What about people whose racial baseline is above human? Dear god what happens to the giant robots?
2. I am going to ask something like this concerning every single plot so get used to it: How much access to water will there be over the course of the event? I need to know what kind of terrible shape Nita will be in by next week.
+1
And goodness...why do I see ruptured piping in the near future? Assuming water mains and such are even a thing in Knowhere...

But yeah if she gets hit with any flame/heat/energy attacks, she is definitely going to need water, and even if not, she'll steadily get weaker and weaker as the event progresses if she can't take a dip now and again.

And obv this needs to be a robot that follows her around bc robots are the solution to everything

2. There are showers in the living quarters, but other than that there is no access to additional water sources at the moment.

are characters allowed to fight at both locations? or travel between them, throughout the duration of the event? or is it more like, choose a place and you're stuck there till the end?

Re: PLOTTING: THE CONTINUUM CORTEX
However, since she won't be able to use her special attacks (given the alien's abilities), she'll be relying a lot on bashing things with her Garnet Rod aka the giant key you can see in her icon.
Should be fun. She'll protect people if they need that.

Or turning into a tank - if that's a thing that is permitted.

Also he must follow the song of his people. He's a brute force dude so this is right up his alley and he'll be happy to see a little action. He's up for protecting people too, if it's needed.
Planning to have him end up on the Observation Deck for Siege Mode though because I want him to see those aliens and the power they have. >:D

They're also both from the universe that the game's based on, and Nita's been to Knowhere before, so both of them can fill in non-Marvel folks on a lot if they'd be seeking out information.

He's a brute force kinda guy, so teaming up with someone who can observe and point out the defensive patterns/weakness would be rad.
He can play protector to any squishies who need it too.

She is welcome to hide behind this large robot man. Or cling to his back. Or ride on his shoulder. And boss him around too if so inclined. He takes bossing from sensible individuals quite well.
I'll be sure to look for her during stage two, or vice versa. :D
